In 2010 Bradfield Walkers are Welcome and Stocksbridge Walkers are Welcome were formed to promote walking in their respective areas as part of the national Walkers are Welcome initiative.
Over the next decade the groups created a broad range of resources for routes for exploring the area, including open moors, reservoirs, historic landscape and inclusive routes which are level and without stiles.
In 2024 the original members of the groups have become less able to continue to develop and maintain the walk route information. The groups are aware that the resources are still being used by individuals and walking groups in the area and wish to keep the resources available.

The routes on this site are not being actively checked and updated and the instructions may not be correct due to changes in the landscape. The routes were planned to be along public rights of way, permissive paths and access land, so there should not be any major issues.
