Welcome to the second edition of Walk This Way and a Happy New Year to you all.
Hopefully, you have enjoyed a very short but safe Christmas break from this strange year of restrictions, tiers, and lockdowns. For now, ‘Stay at home’ has to be the message, but with vaccines becoming available and the promise of a return to some degree of normality during the course of this year, now is the time to start thinking about putting some plans in place to get your life back on the right path… or should I say “footpath”?
The local economies of communities across the nation have been hit hard and the coming seasons present a lifeline to hospitality and accommodation providers. The towns and villages of the Walkers are Welcome network offers great walking opportunities, but without the hordes found in the usual honeypot destinations. With long-distance trails and thousands of miles of local footpaths, our member towns and villages present a wide choice of walks with varying degrees of difficulty. If you are looking for Highlands or islands, hills or dales, riverside rambles or woodland walks, there are all of these and more. Whether you prefer solitary strolls or fun-packed festivals, our What’s On page is the place to begin your search.
See you there! Baz Fewster – Vice-Chairman
